About

Born in Queens, New York, editor/director Cinque Northern draws from a unique history of personal experience. Listed in Filmmaker Magazine's Twenty-five New Faces of Independent Film, Cinque holds an MFA in Filmmaking from New York University and has been a working filmmaker for over ten years. He has directed five short films which have received numerous awards including grants from Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese. He has earned recognition in over a dozen film festivals including The Hamptons International Film Festival, The Urban World Film Festival and the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Most recently his short, "The Cable Box" appeared in "6 Things I Never Told You", a feature film comprised of six shorts by six different directors. The feature will screen in this years Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Also a working editor for eight years, Cinque has cut a variety of projects including documentaries, narrative films and music videos. Most recently he edited "Estilo Hip Hop" , a documentary feature that aired on PBS June of 2009.

Cinque's work has taken him to London, Paris, Cuba, Bosnia and most recently, Africa. In the fall of 2008, Cinque was invited by The African Film Academy to give filmmaking workshops to beginners and working professionals in Lagos, Nigeria. Cinque plans to continue making character driven films that expand the reflection of culture as well as the parameters of the medium.
